It’s Tuesday! And everyone seems to have the flu or be sick in some way. This is never good! So I’ve got a recipe, that I personally haven’t tried but a friend suggested to me a while back when I was feeling the funk. This is considered a cleansing tea. Now, about this recipe, if you use these measurements, you’ll make about 4 servings. This is one of those you make and serve the whole family if need be! It’s a little more time consuming than a normal brewed tea but looking at the ingredients and understanding the benefits of these goodies, I can see the endless possibilities to your health already!
And to truly make this brew as nutritionally awesome as possible, don’t let the water boil. You lose the nutrients when it boils.. so steep at a fairly low temperature.
Toast cinnamon stick and coriander seeds in a dry small skillet over medium heat, tossing occasionally, until fragrant and beginning to crackle, about 4 minutes (go easy, you don’t want to burn them). Crush on a cutting board with the side of a chef’s knife or cleaver (or use mortar and pestle). Transfer to a large saucepan and add 4 cups water. Cook over medium-high heat until an instant-read thermometer registers 100°.
Add cilantro, rosemary, ginger, tea bags, honey, and vinegar to saucepan, stirring to dissolve honey. Reduce heat to low and let mixture steep until flavorful, 10–15 minutes. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a quart jar or large heatproof glass measuring cup, using a ladle to extract as much liquid as possible. – Recipe by Brad Leone
