Tea is for Tuesday – Weekly Recipe #26

Thanksgiving is upon us… then Christmas.  The holidays are always full of mixed emotions – the love of family, presents to give/receive, the cold air for some of us – but the holidays also bring about painful aspects of loss, stress, and anxiety.  I’ve been looking for good recipes to help us all get through the holidays whether it’s combating the cold weather and sickness it brings to many, or promoting some calmness and relief. So today’s Tea is for Tuesday recipe is going to help with the heightened levels of stress and anxiety many experience – including myself.  Once again, I found it in my new favorite tea book.  Just too many recipes to not share!

Ingredients
  • 1 part skullcap
  • 1 part catnip
  • 1 part nettle leaf
  • 1 part raspberry
  • 1 part rose petals
  • 0.5 part chamomile
  • 0.5 part rose hips
  • 0.5 part hibiscus
  • 1 vanilla bean per pound of blended tea
  • small piece of fresh ginger, grated, per cup

 

Directions

Hot Infusion: Pour 1.5 cups hot water over 1 tablespoon tea. Steep for 8 to 10 minutes.
Cold Infusion: Combine 2 cups cold water and 1 to 2 tablespoons tea in a lidded jar. Shake the jar to make sure all the tea is saturated. Place in the refrigerator or a cool place for at least 2 hours.
